Conservatory roofs need a different approach to tile roofs — soft brushes, pure-water fed pole systems and careful sealant inspection are the standards. Pressure washing conservatory roofs is a common cause of leaks.
The right method
Pure-water fed pole systems deliver deionised water through a long telescopic pole with a soft brush head. The deionised water leaves glass spot-free without any detergent, and the brush is soft enough not to abrade polycarbonate.
Sealant inspection
While cleaning is in progress it's an ideal opportunity to inspect the roof-to-frame sealant. UV degradation is the leading cause of conservatory leaks. Small sealant tasks caught early save major repair costs later.
Frequency
South-facing conservatory roofs generally need twice-yearly cleaning to look their best. North-facing or shaded units are more forgiving — annually is usually enough.
